Holiday goers have never had it so good when it comes to the Dominican Republic. Bright white beaches, a beautiful underwater world and striking mountains make things very easy on the eye.
Puerto Plate is home to 60+ miles of stunning coastline that drapes itself around the resorts of Sosua and Playa Dorada, where you can find sun kissed beaches, blue seas and your fair share of palm trees!
In terms of size, Playa Dorada is the biggest resort and is backed by rolling green hills and the peak of Mt Isabel. Water sports enthusiasts will give a thumbs up to its 2km beach, you'll also find an 18 hole golf course, two casinos (As if one wasn't enough!) and the Plaza - a collection of shops, bars and cafes.
A few miles west lies Costa Dorada. Noted for being quieter than it's neighbour and for its Blue Flag beach, theres 2 kilometers of pristine, soft, white sands and a plethora of water sports, it's especially good for snorkeling, expect to see a fee angel fish and barracudas!
So far Dominican Republic holidays are looking good don't you agree? Keep on going west and you eventually come to the resort of Bahia Maimon. If you are looking for a great all inclusive / couples holiday, you should definitely check this place out.
Conde Nast ranked Bahia Maimon's beach amongst the world's top 10, which means it has to be something special! No doubt it's golden sands, vivid blue waters and beachfront restaurants had something to do with this!
Bahia Maimon is also home to one of the islands biggest attractions - Ocean World, a marine park where you can snorkel with sharks or swim with dolphins in it's tropical reef, hold parrots and toucans in it's very own rain forest and it also has a casino where you spend some of your hard earned cash!
In the months between December and May you can expect an average temperature of 28°C - 31°C. June through to November is Hurricane season, so expect to see sort bursts of rain.

Dominican Republic holidays have plenty to offer for all tastes.
Like snorkeling? The aptly named Paradise Island is a haven for diving and snorkeling. The half-moon shaped island is surrounded by a coral reef and is rated as one of the best snorkeling spots in the country.
It's a two hour journey from Puerto Plata but well worth the effort!
Just like a normal safari but instead of your bog standard Jeep, you get to ride in a 15ft tall monster truck! You'll be able to see sugar can plantations, tropical rainforests, fruit orchards and power through rushing rivers!
Christened by Christopher Columbus in the name of the Spanish Queen who sponsored his voyage, Mount Isabel de Torres stands at 800ft tall. You can either take a taxi or a cable car up to the top where the peak is surrounded by botanical gardens and a miniaturized version of Christ, just like the one in Rio.
Top Tip If taking a guide with you in the cable car, be aware that you will have to pay for them as well!
