Adorned with beautiful beaches, luxury hotels, and steeped in history, Mexico holidays give holiday makers everything they could ask for!
On the Caribbean side you have Cancun and Riviera Maya, both have jaw dropping beaches and great range of hotels, many of which offer fantastic All Inclusive packages.
Cancun is known for being the party capital of Mexico. It was once a fishing village and was converted into a tourist resort in the 70's. It is now an 18km long island, which offers visitors: casinos, golf courses, shopping malls and arguably the best night life around. So if you enjoy topping up your tan on one of the many white sandy beaches and dancing away until dawn, Cancun is the place for you!
Holiday goers looking for a quieter experience (especially couples and honeymooners) should head further south to Riviera Maya. On the Yucatan Peninsula, Maya offers amazing beaches and access to some of the Mayan ruins, such as the colossal pyramid located at Chichen Itza. The coast line is home to some truly fabulous hotels, built in the style of mini resorts, they off a truly exceptional all inclusive package holiday. Hotels to look out for are the Sensorati and El Dorado suites!
Whist Riviera Maya is more relaxed in terms of nightlife, you can still venture to Playa Del Carmen which has a range of bars and restaurants that you can enjoy if you fancy change from your hotels entertainment.

Mexico holidays offer plenty in terms of excursions and things to see and do.
Holding the title of the worlds largest natural aquarium, Xel-Ha is an eco park where you can swim with dolphins, turtles, sting rays and manatees! (These activities come at an extra cost) There are also plenty of other things to do such as snorkeling (300 Mexican peso deposit per person), take an adventure down the lazy river in a single or double man inflatable ring, jump off the Cliff of courage and fly down the zip line or simply walk around the park and enjoy the scenery. You'll see plenty of iguanas on your travels!
The most popular ticket / package is the all inclusive one, this gives you access to the park and unlimited access to food and drinks throughout the day.
Top tip! Xel-Ha enforces an environmentally friendly sun block policy, which means normal sun block will not be permitted. You can hand over your sun block and staff will supply you with sachets of eco friendly sun block, you can collect your own when you leave the park.
Delphinus - Swim with dolphins
Located about 10 minutes drive south from Playa del Carman and next to Xcaret, Delphinus lets you become a dolphin trainer for the day! Several packages are on offer which let you do a greater range of activities with the dolphins. The ultimate activity is the foot push, where two dolphins will lift you up and push you through the water! It's advisable for any women wearing bikini bottoms to wear a tight fitting pair, as they have been known to come down during this!
Another top tip is to bring spending money for photos and the video as they are not included in the price. Being honest they charge quite a lot, so if you want the photos and video, bring at least 200 USD or 2000+ Mexican pesos.
Captain Hook - Pirate Cruise
Located on the port of Cancun is the Captain Hook pirate cruise experience. You will board one of three ships that will set sail along the coast of Cancun. On the voyage you will be introduced to the crew members, who will perform shows and get members of the audience involved in games. Drinks are free flowing and are topped up regularly. The package you purchase, dictates which ship you board and what your meal will be. My recommendation is to go all out and get the surf and turf meal, which includes steak and lobster! This will also put you on the main ship, where after your meal, the other two boats will sail up beside and attempt to board your ship, cueing a full on pirate battle in front of you!
After the battle the ship returns to the port, during this time you can expect a disco where you can have a good dance! All in all a great excursion!
Coco Bongo / Juan helluva night
If you like a night out on the town a visit to the infamous Coco Bongo is a must! There are two clubs, one in Cancun and the other in Playa del Carmen. Cancun is the larger club, but both are equally good! The only real way to describe a night out in the Coco Bongo, is to think what might be going on in Jim Carrey's head and you'll have your answer - absolute madness (in a good way!). The club is usually packed to the rafters. People wondering what to expect, should think of it as a half cabaret, half night club. There are plenty of musical tributes acts such as Queen, Kiss, Michael Jackson etc and the other shows where acrobats come down from the roof on ribbons, short men running about dressed up as Betelgeuse and a re-enactment of the crucifiction of Christ are just some of the things going on!
If you happen to have booked your holiday with Thomsons, they offer an excursion called "Juan helluva night" which is a bar crawl in Playa del Carmen and see's you visiting 3 popular bars before moving on to the Coco Bongo. The night really is for everyone, you can expect an 18 - 50 audience so don't worry if you think you are a bit old to party, everyone is welcome! This is also a great way to meet new friends from your resort!
