Agadir Holidays

Morocco’s exotic Agadir is a coastal city with vast stretches of golden beaches framing the striking blue of the Atlantic.

There is a pretty marina tucked into the shoreline, a hilltop Kasbah, a beautiful collection of palaces, mosques and gardens.

The city is full of character with some great waterside restaurants, colourful bars and alluring hamams for you to unwind in. Do lookout for the touts at the local Souk who will offer to be your “guide” for a fee and inflated prices - politely decline and make your own way.

It’s likely that as soon as you land on African soil that you’ll want to head straight to the beach to top up your tan.  You can also swim, take a ride on a jet ski and indulge in a little waterside cocktail. You’ll find that the beach here is fantastic, and if you want something a little less crowded then a quick bus ride north to Taghazout will reward you with just that.

The beaches aren't just popular with sun seekers but with surfers too - so if you fancy doing a spot of surfing - you’ll find that you’re in good company. Close by, the marina is home to many a restaurant serving Agadir’s fabulous seafood.

Wait until nightfall and eat dinner al fresco with views of the mountains, the sea and the yachts bobbing up and down in the water under a thick canopy of stars.

Elsewhere there is the Musée des Arts Berberes and the Musée Talborjt “La Casbah” which are all of interest if you’re interested in learning more about local art and history.

Agadir weather

Like most of Africa is hot all year round with temperatures up to 26 degrees C in the summer months. September is the best time to visit.

Kabash

If you’re don’t mind a little exercise (or if you don’t mind hiring a taxi).  Climb the hill to the incredible Kasbah (the ancient citadel) and enjoy spectacular views out over the marina and the beaches below. The Kasbah itself dates back to the 1500’s and was once home to some 300 people. If you’re interested in the country’s history - then a visit to one of Agadir’s museums is in order. Head to the Momoire d’Agadir museum, which has a collection of photos and other intrigues from before Agadir’s devastating earthquake in 1960 - of which the Kasbah is one of the few survivors.

Local History

Elsewhere there is the Musée des Arts Berberes and the Musée Talborjt “La Casbah” which are all of interest if you’re interested in learning more about local art and history.

Markets

One of Morocco’s most popular attractions is its markets or souks as they are better known, and The Agadir Souk is one of the best. It’s the third largest of its kind in North Africa and absolutely fascinating to explore.

Get lost weaving your way through tight alleys full of traders selling colourful spices, silverware, ceramics and artisan items. Start at the bottom end of the souk where all the spice sellers are and make your way onwards through the various gates and alleys. Keep an eye out for traditional Moroccan ceramics and other intriguing curios as you progress.
